To get started, go to the Deal Sections screen. From here, you can carve out and target unique segments of inventory from within an existing set of site tags.
From any page, go to Controls > Private Exchange > Deal Sections.
From the Deal Sections screen, you may create, edit or clone any of your deal sections. To create a new deal section, click Create New Deal Section:
The New Deal Section screen contains multiple fields for you to enter information about your deal section, as shown in the following image:
In the Name field, enter a name for the deal section.
Include descriptions in the name to help identify the targeting. Consider the following examples: Tip:
Indicate which site tags (also known as inventory) to include:
a. Scroll through the Options and highlight the site tag(s) to include.
b. Click the right-pointing arrow; this moves the site tag to Selections.
c. Complete steps a–b for all site tags you want to include in the deal.
To remove a site tag from your selections:
d. Highlight the site tag.
e. Click the left-pointing arrow; this moves the site tag back to your Options.
Click the Match Type drop-down list:
a. Select Full to allow only the impressions that directly correspond to the designated URL to be eligible for the private exchange (e.g. "
b. Select Partial to allow only the impressions whose URL contains a partial match.
c. Select Site to allow all impressions that correspond to the URLs in the site tags (selected in step 2) to be eligible for the private exchange.
Tip: As a best practice, we recommend selecting Site, unless you need to specifically target a subset of the URL with the selected site tags.
Enter a percentage in the Coverage field to indicate the percentage of times this deal section will be considered when a user visits a site. This is useful for pages that exist in multiple sections, or if you want a deal section to be consulted only some of the time.
Tip: We recommend 100%.
The Frequency Restriction toggle allows the deal section to be tied to a select level of frequency. If you want to only activate this deal section when an ad impression triggers this deal section anywhere between 1–2 times during a unique user's session, then select 1–2.
Tip: We recommend setting Frequency Restriction to OFF unless this is specifically negotiated as a component of a private exchange deal.
The Audience Selection toggle (see image below) allows the deal section to be targeted to a specific audience segment that you have set up with a Data Management Platform (DMP). Index Exchange is currently integrated with the following DMPs: Krux, Lotame, Adobe, Bluekai/Oracle and LiveRamp.
Tip: You can search audience segments for characters such as "ed" before selecting your options.
The Country Selection toggle allows the deal section to be tied to a select group of countries. Search, then select one or more countries if required.
Tip: To have all countries selected for a deal section, keep the toggle in the OFF position.
The Ad Unit Selections toggle (see image below) enables you to select specific ad unit sizes for a deal section. Search then select one or more Ad Units if required.
Tip: To have all Ad Units selected for a deal section, keep the toggle in the OFF position.
To create the Private Marketplace Deal Section, click Create.
Tip: Select the Clone this deal section checkbox if you want to create the deal section and immediately start the creation of another new deal section that closely resembles the deal section you just created. Make minor edits and click Create. If you are done cloning, clear the checkbox before you click Create.
